There are three supermarkets, an English butchers and English grocery/freezer/secondhand shop, schools for all ages, medical centre, and bus station with regular busses to Granada and surrounding villages.
Twenty minutes down the main road will bring you to a spectacular lake where you can fish, boat or just take a walk and finish with a coffee by the lakeside afterwards.
Forty minutes will take you to a beautiful man made beach where you can swim, hire a canoe, walk or have lunch in one of the local restaurants.
Alcala la Real is famous for its festivals, which take place throughout the year; there is always something to do either in Alcala or nearby.
